another episode of Idiocy Theatre

I am still working on novel translating, but I've taken on another translation project for the moment, and I decided to post chapters together, SO...

in the meantime, it's time to catch up on scanning doodles from my GEOLOGY NOTEBOOK. I really, really ought to invest in unlined notebooks for next semester, since I spend more time drawing than writing in any of them.

TORTBTTN Explores Atlantis, Theoretically

I was going to do more to this comic but then abandoned it. It feels weird doing tabloid adventure things without talking to [personal profile] unicorn the whole time so everything I do ends up short!! we should actually collaborate on a thing.

I Swear To God I Will Pick This Comic Up Again Later

I whited out descriptive spoilertext and a couple of seriously shitty drawings. I didn't accomplish much writing in NaNo, but I DID draw a good chunk of the cast.

The Neverending Cast List

lab partners are chosen by proximity, not efficiency.

I realized later that she should be Luna, not Moon. So just pretend that happened. The moons of planets are admirers/an entourage/kouhai.

I gave Luna a thinner ribbon to show she was in a younger grade but I forgot it for Phobos and Deimos. (I remembered it again for Charon.) I imagine they are still a little too delinquent to care wtf they are wearing. Secretly, Mars hates them.

The Galilean moons of Jupiter are the elite of their grade. They're supposedly the officers of Jupiter's fanclub, but in practice they're more like the generals of her personal army. They can go toe-to-toe with a lot of the planets in whatever discipline.

It was only later that I realized I wrote "temperature" when I meant just "temper"... her volcanoes were the inspiration for her attitude, so it's surprisingly accurate. :(

She has red hair. I could go through and design all the moons ahead of time, but that would become extremely boring very quickly, so I think I should do them as they interest me. Jupiter alone has 63 moons. Some of the more obscure moons are probably going to have to dip into mythology before they get any kind of personality. (Some of the really obscure moons don't even have proper names to squeeze things out of. D:)

Neptune always has the same expression whenever I draw her.

Mercury and Venus are two of my favorites, but they don't have any satellites. :(

misc. doodles.

If anyone has any Astronomy Facts that they would like to be comic-ified, even if they involve celestial bodies I haven't designed yet, that would be awesome. I can't seem to find a suitable source on my own, but this is fun :(
